ASHEEP & BEEF has planning underway to deliver a sheep auto-weigh demonstration commencing late 2026 and incorporating up to 5 demonstration sites through to early 2028. The plan is to purchase an Optiweigh sheep double bay auto‑weigh unit that will be rotated around different farm sites to assess and familiarise producers with opportunities to utilise auto-weigh technology.

The demonstration is part of a broader project called "Muster", funded by the Australian Government, administered by the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, and delivered by West Australian grower groups.

 

In addition to the auto-weigh demonstration, ASHEEP & BEEF will also be running a series of workshops and activities targeted to optimise sheep production systems.

This demonstration will seek animal ethics approval via the Department of Primary Industry & Regional Development Animal Ethics Committee.
