PROGRAM
12:30PM Meet at Harry Davies’ farm
35816 Coolgardie Esperance Hwy, first driveway on left after the Shark Lake CBH site if heading north
- Sign in on arrival and discussion on the season
- Syncing heifers to mate with bulls for a 4 week joining
- ASHEEP & BEEF Optimising Age of Weaning Cattle MLA PDS: producers Harry Davies & Nick Ruddenklau share their experience of 2023 earlier weaning + project facilitator Dr Enoch Bergman (Swans Veterinary Services)
- David Howey (Elanco): new product Multiboost with B12 for cattle
2:30PM Esperance Downs Research Station
Coolgardie Esperance Hwy, 5km N of Gibson
- Feed365 Project Demonstration Site: mix of 40kg triticale, 30kg cereal rye, 10kg balansa clover, hosted by Josh & Tegan Sullivan + comments from agronomist Giles McMeikan (Farm & General) & researcher Paul Sanford (DPIRD)
- FutureSheep Project: investigating the impact of future climate change on sheep production, modelling pasture production in 2050 using the CSIRO GrassGro model with Paul Sanford (DPIRD)

BIOSECURITY
Please observe farm biosecurity and arrive in clean boots & clothes. If you are travelling in a car that has been on other farms please make sure it is clean (free of weed seeds & soil).
WHAT TO BRING
Wet weather gear / warm clothes / hat / sunscreen, we go rain or shine.
SAFETY
We are visiting working farms which include a range of hazards. Please stay as a group and observe instructions given to you. Stay away from moving machinery or vehicles, look out for slips / trips, keep a safe distance from any livestock we may encounter (if you are given the opportunity to handle stock please follow ASHEEP & BEEF’s livestock handling safe work procedures available to download here and take instruction given to you by the farm host / field day Chair). Avoid driving on paddocks where possible. When you are driving please drive cautiously and avoid hazards such as potholes, deep water, slippery areas, wild animals, and livestock.
PERSONAL ACCESSIBILTY
Please note that this field day will visit paddocks and yards that include uneven / soft / rough terrain. We plan to have a portable toilet available, but there are several steps to access it. If you have accessibility requirements and need something for you to safely attend the event, please call ASHEEP & BEEF on the number below and we will endeavour to find a solution.

Please observe good hand hygiene and don’t attend if you have cold and flu symptoms.
